Margie McKenzie, Managing Director
Margie is a qualified chartered accountant and holds membership of CPA Australia.
In addition, she holds formal qualifications in business, training, outdoor recreation and tourism.
She sits on the board of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Dive Queensland and the
Association of Marine Park Tourism Operators.
Margie successfully owned and operated a dive tourism business in Cairns for a number of years. Her passion is business,
and this has been reflected in work she has carried out as Business Advisor for the Queensland State Government.
In this role she assisted a wide range of business owners develop and introduce operational strategies,
skills development and financial systems resulting in them expanding and improving business operations.
Col McKenzie, Director
Col is the CEO of the Association of Marine Park Tourism Operators (AMPTO) and sits on a total of 38 industry boards
concerned with the management of the Great Barrier Reef, environmental conservation, training and marine safety.
He plays a pivotal role in the development of legislation which effects business operations within Queensland’s parks
both land and sea based. Col is a qualified Fire Engineer, Medic First Aid Trainer, Industry Trainer & Assessor and
holds a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
Col is a skilled collaborator who has the ability and experience to bring a wide range of differing interest
groups together to achieve a common goal.
Steve Moon, Project Manager
Steve overseas the operations of the Crown of Thorns Starfish (CoTS) Eradication program and sits on a number of boards
including the North Eastern Waterspace Management Group and is President of Dive Queensland. He holds Masters and
Engineers qualifications, internationally accredited audit qualifications for Environmental Safety and Management
and ISO/ISM systems and a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
Steve appreciates the high premium being placed on efficient processes delivered through projects.
His success in efficiently managing substantial government programs is a testament to his skill in putting in place best practice systems.
Gary Hawkes, Dive RAID Director Training, Marketing & Sales
Gary Hawkes, has worked full time in the diving industry since 1999. Holding qualifications as a Remote Medical Emergency Technician and a Diving Medical Technician he was instrumental in the introduction injured diver evaluation and evacuation stations for a major global hyperbaric company in South East Asia (SE Asia). Gary has an in depth understanding of the business of diving, balanced with risk assessment and dive accident management. With over 14 years of doing business in S.E. Asia he is skilled at business and product development and has extensive knowledge and practical experience in marketing and distributing throughout the Asian region.
